Introductory course in creative sculpture
Would you like to start creating sculptures? Want to express your passion for ‘Materiae Primae’, wood, stone or clay, and bring them to life!
In a well-equipped workshop, trainees can try their hand at creative sculpture by completing one or more projects over 3, 5 or 10 days.
The aims of the course are to discover the materials and tools needed to master 3-dimensional work (sculpture in the round), to enjoy the pleasure of creating rather than reproducing, to develop the imagination and express the inner world. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the history and place of art in our society.



Objectives of the courses
- Workplace organisation / Safety at work
- Knowledge of materials Wood (soft, medium-hard, hard; homogeneous or heterogeneous) and Stone (sedimentary or metamorphic)
- Direct cutting of wood or stone (mastery of hand tools & use of hand-held power tools)
- Treatment and conservation of wood and stone
- Clay modelling; Notions for firing wood-fired clay
- General documentation on wood, stone and clay sculpture
- Documentation on the History of Art
- Focus on artists (Brancusi, Giacometti, Modigliani, Gauguin, Arte Povera, Henri Moore, Camille Claudel, Chillida, Takis, Tingueli, among others).
