The gallery and workshop
In the heart of the Vauban Citadel at Château d’Oléron
Since 2017, my Studio-Gallery has been located in the heart of the Vauban Citadel of the Château d’Oléron, built in the 17th century, in a 110 m² vaulted space called the Casemate de l’abreuvoir (former powder magazine).
I wanted to use this remarkable building, which was restored in 2021 and classified as a Historic Monument, as a place to create and exhibit my work, but also to meet and share ideas about sculpture.
Visitors rub shoulders with artists working on projects or just visiting, with students and apprentices in the art of wood and stone carving, and art enthusiasts from all over the world.
Several of my monumental sculptures: the ‘Sphère Maritime‘, the ‘Joueur de Planète’ and the ‘Sirène de Gatseau’ are also on display on the Citadelle esplanade.

Participatory projects
Over the last few years I have been lucky enough to imagine and successfully implement several monumental sculpture projects involving various partners: artists and craftsmen; local authorities; patrons, and art lovers. These projects include :

La Pierre Debout
In 2021, in tribute to the deportees of the Paris Commune, in partnership with the Libre Pensée 17 association and the Ligue des Droits de l’Homme (Human Rights League).

La Sphère Maritime
In 2016, on the occasion of the first international biennial ‘Amers – Art and Nature on the island of Oléron’ on the theme of “Refuge”.

Le Joueur de Planète
In 2019, we took part in action for the planet through art.

Introductory courses in creative sculpture
Would you like to start creating sculptures? Want to express your passion for ‘Materiae Primae’, wood, stone or clay, and bring them to life?
In our well-equipped workshop, students can try their hand at creative sculpture by completing one or more projects over 3, 5 or 10 days (maximum 3 participants).
The aims of the course are to help participants discover the materials and tools they need to master 3-dimensional work (sculpture in the round), to enjoy the pleasure of creating rather than reproducing, and to express and communicate their inner world. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the history and place of art in our society.

Artistic education
Support for school projects and visits from Beaux-Arts students
The French Ministry of Education has made Art and Culture Education Projects a priority, with a particular emphasis on direct contact with works of art and artists.
It was with this in mind that teachers approached me to arrange for their pupils to visit the Atelier-Galerie so that together they could develop artistic projects on selected themes. I really enjoyed these interactive exchanges, which led to the creation of collective works in the secondary schools of Pons (Charente-Maritime) and Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine), on the themes of ‘Deconnection’ and ‘Nature is at home’ respectively.
In a spirit of transmission, my studio is also open to trainees from the Ecole de Beaux-Arts; these encounters give rise to mutually beneficial relationships between the ‘young confirmed sculptor’ that I am (after 22 years of practice) and younger generations motivated by an artistic vocation.
